One Night of Queen

Saw this last night. Uncanny. Closed my eyes and it was Freddie Mercury. This is a concert I would recommend and will look for when he comes around again.

Everett Petersen at Doctor's Day Celebration

Everett is a good friend of mine and a wonderful violinist. We went in to the hospital on my vacation to watch he and Dr Mike Mahla of the Anesthesiology program perform for Doctor's Day. Everett is show-cased at the beginning and ending of this clip.

Hoggetown Medieval Faire

This was our second visit to Gainesville's "Hoggetown Festival". We really enjoy it! One favorite this year was this tall couple, who we were able to visit with. My kids enjoyed our conversation, so I am going to include it. After we went through the maze at the festival, the tall man said to us: "I did that maze once...I got really lost." I then told him I was surprised at that seeing as he was so tall and could just look over the top of the maze. He said he hadn't thought of that, and that his wife was really mad. I then said: "Your big-headed wife?" Porter and Autumn were really laughing. Sometimes it is fun for kids, and adults, to state the obvious.

Cub Scout Derby

I had to post Porter's cub car pictures if not for the (not-so) speediness of his car, than the sheer beauty of it. David and Porter worked really hard, and it shows! The trophy he is holding is "Car Most Likely to be Driven by Tim Tebow". Good job, guys!

Fun with Grandma and Grandpa Cahoon

It is hard to pick pictures for the 3 weeks of fun we had with my mom and dad. Here is a little sampler of some of the things we did and saw...Homosassa Springs, Sea World, the southern coast of Florida...a random psycho-looking Ninja Turtle. Thanks for all the fun and memories Grandma and Grandpa! We feel very lucky to have had you all to ourselves over Christmas.

All I Want For Christmas

Autumn and her friend Hannah were both missing their front teeth before Christmas! Too bad I didn't get a great shot of Hannah's teeth!

Happy Birthday Porter!

It is pretty crazy that we have a nine year old in our house! We are lucky to have smart, responsible, fun, obedient Porter as our eldest. He is a great example to Autumn and Marik!

These are some of Porter's friends on his science class field trip last month. We went to the Museum here in town and finally got to see the butterfly exhibit!

October

You would think with the amount of time I spent on the kid's costumes this year, (All Star Wars characters: Obe Wan Kenobe, Annakin Skywalker aka "Manakin", and Ashoka from Clone Wars) I would have tried a little harder to get a picture of them all decked out. I had to steal the one of Autumn from a friend's blog. Nice work.

Porter and Autumn had a "fun run" fundraiser at school this month, and again, the pictures I took are not great, but this action shot captures the excitement of the day, I think1

Happy Birthday David! We celebrated a day late because he was able to go to an Anesthesia Conference in New Orleans that weekend, which included dining at Emeril Lagasse's restaurant with colleagues, so not a completely lame place to be on your birthday. :)

We went to a friend's Halloween party, and I took several videos of Marik dancing. He danced for what seemed like an hour and I pretty much had to drag him out of there. I kind of wanted to post more videos because it was just so funny!

Update on the Boys

I had to post these pictures of Marik on his first day of "preschool". True to Edwards family form he wanted to dress himself, and chose to wear a shirt of Porter's. We are doing a parent taught co-op with just 4 kids, so we just teach a preschool lesson centered on a letter of the alphabet. It is once a week, so we only have to teach once a month. It has been great, and Marik loves it!

Porter is playing flag football with his friend Preston right now and really enjoying it! I think they would have fun doing whatever as long as it is together! The coaches are pretty amazing, and Porter is really improving! Go Giants!

Happy Birthday Autumn!

Autumn is now 7! For her birthday we went to a movie, out for dinner, and shopping the next day. She insisted on carrying around this doll she picked out while we were at the mall. :) I can't believe she is growing up so fast! She is a really fun, happy girl, who has a lot of friends! When we went to the open house at the school this year, Autumn was smiling and waving at everyone as usual, but I was amazed at the number of people who said "Hi Autumn!". I kept asking her how all these people who weren't in her class or even in her grade knew her! It is great to have such a ray of sunshine in our family!
P.S. Autumn has been talking about having strawberry shortcake for a while...that is why she has that undecorated angel food cake.:)

Porter and Autumn are taking guitar lessons. So far they are really enjoying it as you can see in this video from their very first lesson.

He's Three!!

Cute little baby Marik has grown up and had his third birthday! Yes, I made yet another lame cake for him, but he doesn't really care. He specified that he wanted to have a pink transformers cake, but this is what it ended up to be and he was thrilled. Marik is such a fun kid who is really starting to talk to and be nice to people. He loves to play with Porter and Autumn, and his friends. He cried when Porter and Autumn went to school the morning of his birthday, but quickly recoved and had a great day with his best pal Ellie. Happy Birthday, Marik!

Ichetucknee Springs

On Saturday we floated downstream in Ichetucknee State Park. We have intended to do this since last year, so we were excited to go, and had a great time. We woke up really early and followed the Petersen's to the longest section of the river, and it paid off, as we made it in time to do the 3 hour section of the river. We exited a little early, but it was perfect because it started to rain as soon as we got out. We look forward to taking any visitors that come to see us!

More Camping Pictures

Roasting marshmallows is always a hightlight, right along with the fire. I had to include a picture of the tree that the kids climbed constantly. It made us a little nervous, but they loved it!
